NFL – Pittsburgh Steelers: Tomlin as rookie horror! That’s why Browns quarterback Gabriel doesn’t stand a chance

When the Cleveland Browns take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the outcome is pretty much a foregone conclusion. That’s because Mike Tomlin is a rookie killer.

So it’s clear that Dillon Gabriel’s chances of winning with the Cleveland Browns against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6 of the NFL (on Sunday from 7 p.m. in the live ticker) are slim. Pretty slim, in fact.

The reason for the bleak outlook: Mike Tomlin.

The Steelers coach has two statistics that are likely to cause rookie Gabriel concern.

First, he recently achieved a 14-4 record after a bye week, including eight wins in a row.

Even more impressive, however, is his almost uncanny streak against rookie quarterbacks. Tomlin has a 27-6 record, including playoffs. Rookies have virtually no chance in Pittsburgh, with 14 wins to one loss.

Cowboys playmaker Dak Prescott was the only rookie quarterback to beat Tomlin’s Steelers in Pittsburgh. That was in 2016, almost ten years ago.

But of course, the fact that Gabriel is not winning his second game as a Browns starter could simply be due to the current form of the teams.

While the Steelers are 3-1, the Browns have only one win and four losses. And an offense that is among the worst in the league. The Browns are hopeful that Gabriel, who was named the starter before the London game, can change that.

But probably not yet in Pittsburgh.
