Aaron Rodgers is a Steeler. The new Pittsburgh quarterback could demand some new additions, similar to his time in New York. We show you the possible list.
They did it. They really did it.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have given Aaron Rodgers a one-year contract and are placing their hopes in the hands of the 41-year-old quarterback. After much back and forth.
It’s a feeling that many New York Jets fans may be familiar with. Is there another scenario looming besides his sporting career?
Rodgers also came to the Jets with certain conditions. He demanded new players. This could also be in store for the Steelers, who still have around $32 million in cap space available.
Here is a list of possible players “A-Rod” might want.
The wide receiver plays for Rodgers’ old team and is one of the best pass receivers there. However, two early draft picks at the WR position show that the Packers are preparing for all eventualities.
Watson is prone to injury. The 26-year-old has missed several games in each of his three NFL seasons due to injury. Matthew Golden and Savion Williams are being trained as possible replacements. GB would certainly be open to talks if the right offer came along.
Doubs is not injury-prone and knows Rodgers from his rookie season in 2022. Once Watson is fully fit again, the Packers would probably be more likely to let Doubs go if the rookies behind him catch fire.
Head coach Matt LaFleur likes to leave Doubs on the bench at crucial moments and trusts other receivers. Perhaps a bigger role in Pittsburgh with his old QB would appeal to him.
The wide receiver is 33 years old. He has hardly survived a season without injury in the past five years. But that’s what makes him so available. Because when Allen is at 100 percent, he is still one of the best receivers in the NFL.
Late last season, he was accordingly the favorite target of quarterback Caleb Williams. Allen brings experience, is a good route runner and could strengthen the Steelers with immediate effect.
The 32-year-old is long past his prime. He can’t carry an offense on his own. But he still has his downfield threat qualities as a wide receiver. He can complement an offensive system around D.K. Metcalf or Pat Freiermuth very well with his skill set. And he probably wouldn’t be too expensive.
He’s also flexible. Agholor can play both inside and outside as a receiver. It wouldn’t be a big risk to sign him, and he could surprise us. The 32-year-old is long past his prime.
