General Manager Omar Khan has been busy this offseason. The Pittsburgh Steelers are now rewarding him for it.
It has been a busy NFL offseason so far for Omar Khan.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ general manager brought star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to Pittsburgh, along with wide receiver DK Metcalf, cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay, and tight end Jonnu Smith. Wide receiver George Pickens was also traded to the Dallas Cowboys.
The franchise clearly liked what he did, as the GM’s contract has now been extended by three years until 2028. Khan has been in office since 2022.
“I am pleased to announce that we have signed Omar to a three-year contract extension,” club president Art Rooney II said in a statement. “Omar and his team have done an outstanding job over the past three years, whether it was in the draft, targeted trades or free agency. We want to continue on this successful path and hope it leads us to even more sporting success.”
Success has been limited to playoff appearances so far. Although they made the playoffs in the last two years, they failed to win a game.
The Steelers last won a postseason game in 2016. With Khan as GM, the Steelers have a 29-22 record.
“I am confident that we are building a championship-caliber team. I am looking forward to the 2025 season and the years to come, with the clear goal of bringing another Super Bowl title to Pittsburgh and giving our great fans what they deserve,” Khan said.
However, Khan still has one issue to deal with, as the future of edge rusher T.J. Watt remains uncertain. Watt opted out of the offseason program to build pressure. However, he is still waiting in vain for a new contract.
