The father of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes could end up in prison for many years for driving under the influence of alcohol.
After Patrick Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s father could face a lengthy prison sentence.
In February 2024, Mahomes Sr. was arrested during a traffic stop for driving under the influence of alcohol – yet again.
As “TMZ” reports from available court documents, the father of the reigning Super Bowl champion pleaded guilty before his trial in Smith County (Texas).

The 54-year-old is reported to have reached an agreement with prosecutors, but details are not provided as neither Smith County authorities nor Mahomes’ attorney responded to a media request.
Mahomes is scheduled to be sentenced on September 23. The former baseball player could then face up to ten years in prison and a fine of 10,000 dollars in the worst case scenario.
However, due to his guilty plea, it is unlikely that Mahomes Sr. will receive the maximum sentence and his pleas are likely to have a mitigating effect.
In February, Mahomes Sr. was arrested during a traffic stop after showing signs of drunk driving.
However, a few days later he was able to attend his son’s Super Bowl victory at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Mahomes Sr. has already served a 40-day prison sentence for drunk driving in the past.
