Odell Beckham Jr. wants to play in the NFL again. However, as he revealed, he must first serve a suspension.
This news comes as a real surprise: Odell Beckham Jr. is being suspended by the NFL for doping. The 33-year-old announced this on the podcast “The Pivot.” The wide receiver will have to sit out six games, and according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the suspension will take effect this week.
According to ESPN, the violation is said to have occurred last season. Beckham emphasized that he never knowingly took performance-enhancing substances.
NFL: Odell Beckham Jr. currently a free agent
For the time being, this will not have any immediate impact, as OBJ has not found a new team since leaving the Miami Dolphins after last year’s trade deadline.
Nevertheless, Beckham would like to play again this season if he can find a team. That could happen in November at the earliest. He emphasized again in the podcast that he would not retire. “No chance,” he said.
However, his recent statistics cannot be ignored: in 2024, he had nine catches for 55 yards in nine appearances in Miami. The fact that he has been without a team for almost a year speaks volumes in this context. The suspension is unlikely to make the search for a new employer any easier.
