NFL – New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers denies coup allegations against fired head coach Robert Saleh

After the dismissal of head coach Robert Saleh, Aaron Rodgers is defending himself against reports that he had something to do with it.

Aaron Rogers has defended himself against claims that he was partly responsible for the dismissal of Robert Saleh as head coach of the New York Jets.

The star quarterback of the Jets dismissed these allegations as “ridiculous and patently false” on the “Pat McAfee Show.” Saleh was even one of the reasons why he moved to New York in the first place.

Rodgers was nevertheless amused by the “great power people” would ascribe to him. “I don’t have that power,” the 40-year-old continued.

Fox Sports” had previously reported that Rodgers’ relationship had suffered greatly this season and that the dismissal of the head coach was tantamount to a coup initiated by Rodgers.

Nevertheless, Rodgers had only positive things to say about Saleh: ‘He’s a fantastic person and a damn good football coach.’

He doesn’t just have a special relationship with him, Rodgers continued: ”I’ve gotten to know his family well over the past few years. He’s a family man, he has seven children and an incredible wife.”

He practiced throws with Adam, one of Saleh’s children, at training camp, Rodgers said. He is particularly concerned about him: ‘Hopefully he won’t have to listen to nasty comments at school from children of poor parents.’

Rodgers names reason for call from Jets owner Johnson

Rodgers confirmed that Jets owner Woody Johnson called him the night before Saleh was fired. However, Johnson only asked about his well-being and did not address the coaching issue at all.
