Aaron Glenn could soon be introduced as the new head coach of the New York Jets. It will then also be interesting to see what happens with Aaron Rodgers.
The New York Jets have apparently found their new head coach.
Aaron Glenn is invited for a personal interview on Tuesday. And as NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports, the Jets want to get down to business immediately.
Accordingly, not all the details have been finalized yet, but if everything goes well, Glenn could be announced as the new coach quickly.
Until now, Glenn was the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. However, since Detroit was defeated by the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round at the weekend, Glenn can now conduct personal interviews and accept a new job.
He had already virtually interviewed with the Jets.
As Rapoport further reports, Glenn has planned another job interview with the New Orleans Saints in case he does not come to an agreement with the Jets.
Glenn is no stranger to the Jets organization. He was drafted in the first round by the Jets in 1994 and then played eight of his 15 years in the league in New York.
The former cornerback made two Pro Bowls during that time. Even after his playing career ended, he started with the Jets, where he worked as a scout from 2012 to 2014. He has been the DC of the Lions since 2021.
New York Jets: And what about Rodgers?
The interesting question is what will happen with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He himself had recently emphasized that it also depends on who will be in charge of the team’s sporting fortunes in the new season as coach and manager.
“It will depend on what the general manager, the coach and I decide, whether we all want to take this leap together or not,” said Rodgers.
Then only the GM would be missing. And the playmaker’s decision. “As for my own decision, I told them I would take some time,” Rodgers continued.
