NFL – New Tennessee Titans stadium hot candidate for Super Bowl

Roger Goodell does the honors for the Spring League Meeting in Nashville. There, the NFL boss suggests that the Super Bowl would actually be a good fit for the Tennessee Titans’ future stadium

58 Super Bowls the football world has seen so far. Some spectacular and exciting right up to the last play. Others one-sided and decided early on. But none of these games, which offer the biggest single sporting event in the world year after year, are forgotten.

In addition to the two participating teams, the host always benefits from the special attention. In other words, the franchise and the city whose stadium has been chosen as the venue.

So far, 15 cities or regions have had the pleasure of hosting a Super Bowl. The games have been played in 27 different stadiums. Perhaps number 16 and number 28 will be added soon.

Because with the new Nissan Stadium now under construction, the Tennessee Titans and thus Nashville are apparently also moving up the list of candidates. “CBS” even reports that the capital of the state of Tennessee has a “good chance” of hosting the Super Bowl with its new venue

Goodell on Super Bowl in Nashville: “Would be very successful “

A statement made by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell during the annual Spring League Meeting, which took place in Nashville this year, is cited as evidence. Asked about the Super Bowl prospects, the 65-year-old said: “I think the stadium is going to be great. We know how passionate the fans are here, we saw that at the draft.”

This was followed by the decisive sentence that will make the hearts of Titans fans beat faster: “I think a Super Bowl would be very successful here.” It doesn’t matter that Goodell obviously wants to play for time: “We’ll come back to it when we’re a bit further along with the stadium.”

The arena, which is being built right next to the old stadium that has been home to the Titans since 1999, is due to open in February 2027. 2.1 billion US dollars have been budgeted for the construction. Delays are virtually priced in, especially with such huge projects.

Nevertheless, “CBS” writes that the biggest game of all could take place in the new stadium as early as 2028 or 2029. “It wouldn’t be surprising if Nashville were to get the Super Bowl before the end of this decade,” says reporter John Breech: “And it wouldn’t be surprising if the covered stadium were added to the regular rotation of Super Bowl hosts. “

Super Bowl record: Eighth staging at Saints Stadium

Long part of this rotation is the Caesars Superdome of the New Orleans Saints, venue of next season’s final. It will be the eighth Super Bowl in the arena, which has been in use since 1975 – a record.

After that, it will be the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium in 2026 and the Los Angeles Rams’ SoFi Stadium and the Los Angeles Chargers’ SoFi Stadium in 2027. This will be the second time that both relatively new stadiums have hosted a Super Bowl. They are therefore more or less already part of the rotation.

In the ranking of cities and regions, New Orleans will catch up with the Miami metropolitan region at the top with the eleventh Super Bowl next year. But no matter how many times the Super Bowl comes to you, it’s a highlight every time. Guaranteed
