NFL – New England Patriots: Gambling charges against Kayshon Boutte likely to be dropped

In January, Kayshon Boutte was arrested on suspicion of illegal gambling. Now the charges against the Patriots receiver have apparently been dropped.

As “ESPN” reported, citing his lawyer, the charges against the New England Patriots wide receiver have been dropped. In January, Boutte was arrested in Louisiana for allegedly gambling illegally as a minor.

The allegations: As a 20-year-old, he is said to have placed more than 8,900 bets via an alias account during his time at LSU, including at least 17 on college games and at least six on games involving his own team. In the USA, however, betting is only permitted from the age of 21. In addition, players are not allowed to bet on games involving their own team.

Even a week after his draft – Boutte was selected by New England in the sixth round in 2023 – he is said to have still been betting.

New England Patriots: Gambling charges against Boutte reportedly shelved

Now the allegations are apparently a thing of the past – and the now 22-year-old can concentrate on his NFL career.

It got off to a more than bumpy start in his rookie season with just two catches for 19 yards. At the start of the 2024 regular season, the pass receiver and his teammates will face the Cincinnati Bengals on September 8.
