The Minnesota Vikings suffered a bitter defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers at the start of the eighth match day. The game was almost decided by halftime.
Second defeat in a row for the Minnesota Vikings: The men from Minneapolis went down 10-37 to the Los Angeles Chargers without a chance.
The hosts were the superior team in almost every metric and every phase of the game.
Carson Wentz ended up with just 144 passing yards on 27 attempts (15 of which were completed), plus one touchdown and one interception. He was even benched late in the game, with rookie Max Brosmer completing his first NFL passes in the fourth quarter.
Nothing worked on the ground either: with only eleven runs, the Vikings gained a measly 34 yards. Starter Jordan Mason ran for three yards on four attempts. The best receiver of the evening was Justin Jefferson with 74 yards on seven catches, while Jordan Addison caught the only touchdown of the day.
Los Angeles Chargers stop losing streak
On the other side, the Chargers played a near-perfect game at their home stadium, SoFi Stadium. After three losses in their last four games and an unconvincing win at the Miami Dolphins, this was balm for the souls of all those who support the Chargers.
Justin Herbert impressed with 227 passing yards (18/25 passes completed) and three touchdowns, but also had the blemish of one interception. With an additional 62 rushing yards, Herbert also shone with his mobility.
The Bolts’ best runner was Kimani Vidal, who gained 117 yards on 23 attempts, with the Chargers finishing with over 200 rushing yards in total. while Oronde Gadsden and Tre Harris each caught a pass in the end zone. The Vikings, who now have a losing record (3-4), will travel to the Detroit Lions on the next match day, while the Chargers (5-3) will face the Tennessee Titans away.
