The Minnesota Vikings’ offseason planning is in full swing. With the possibility of losing Kirk Cousins in free agency, the franchise has already embarked on a search for a replacement
According to NFL insider Dov Kleinman, the Minnesota Vikings are on the hunt for a new quarterback.
According to the report, Sam Darnold is the favored solution should they lose Kirk Cousins in free agency. According to rumors, Cousins is leaning towards a move to the Atlanta Falcons. Before the 35-year-old ruptured his Achilles tendon last October, he was playing a strong season.
Accordingly, Minnesota would like to keep its franchise player.
If that doesn’t work out, Darnold and Zach Wilson will reportedly become the focus of the team. Both quarterbacks have been in the NFL for several years.
Darnold was selected third overall by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2018 draft. The 26-year-old now plays for the San Francisco 49ers, where he has to line up behind Brock Purdy.
Zach Wilson is also struggling after being drafted second overall by the Jets in 2021. In retrospect, the quarterback’s pick turned out to be a big misunderstanding. Wilson never really impressed and fell far short of expectations.
Now the Jets chapter could be coming to an end. As general manager Joe Douglas confirmed to “ESPN”, the franchise has allowed Wilson’s agent to seek a trade. Will he now end up in Minnesota?
What is clear is that the Vikings would be taking a risk on both players. Both have never fully arrived in the NFL and have been demoted or traded time and time again. So the question is whether one of them can be the solution for the Vikings.

Wolfson said the “steam” on Darnold is “legit” and that he is “near the top” of the Vikings’ list of veteran bridge QBs. They’ve also done “some… pic.twitter.com/t9Cosw485V
