After his resignation as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, around 40 million dollars in outstanding salary payments for Jon Gruden are still in the balance. But the franchise has now apparently reached an agreement with its former coach.
Munich – When he took over in 2018, Jon Gruden had signed one of the best coaching contracts in the NFL.
The Raiders signed him for ten years and guaranteed him around 100 million US dollars in return.
After Gruden’s resignation on 11 October, due to the racism scandal surrounding him, the 58-year-old was still entitled to around 40 million dollars in guaranteed salary.
The two parties have now apparently reached an agreement on this point of contention between the Raiders and Gruden.
Davis does not specify exact amounts
As reported by The Athletic, Raiders owner Mark Davis has confirmed that the franchise has reached an agreement with Gruden.
While Davis left the exact figures of the agreement open, it is likely that Gruden will not have received the full amount due to his antics.
Nevertheless, the ex-coach should not have gone empty-handed with demands of this magnitude. In all probability, Jon Gruden should not be starving.
Since Gruden’s absence, the Raiders have been riding a wave of success in the league. The team has since won both of its games and sits atop the AFC West with a record of 5-2 wins.
