The Baltimore Ravens’ season has been ill-fated so far: three losses in their first four games, and now star quarterback Lamar Jackson is likely to be out as well.
The Baltimore Ravens started the season with a bitter shootout defeat against the Buffalo Bills.
The following week, they managed a convincing victory against the Cleveland Browns, which raised hopes of a turnaround. But then came the hammer blow.
The highlights of the NFL here on Joyn
In week three, the next disappointment came with a 30-38 loss to the Detroit Lions, before the Kansas City Chiefs handed the Ravens a defeat last week, with several players injured in the process – including their most important player.
Among the injured players was superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, who had delivered a commanding performance so far this season despite Baltimore’s weak defense: 869 passing yards, 166 rushing yards, plus 11 touchdowns with only one interception – almost back to MVP level.
Lamar Jackson “expected” to miss two to three weeks
Jackson was forced to leave the field injured in the third quarter of the 20-37 loss to the Chiefs after a sack by defensive end George Karlaftis. The two-time MVP did not return and spent the rest of the game on the bench, where he repeatedly stretched his injured right leg.
And the prognosis for the severity of the injury is apparently very sobering.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Jackson is “expected” to miss the Ravens’ upcoming game against the Houston Texans with a thigh injury. And that’s not all. Overall, he is expected to be out for two to three weeks.
So it’s quite possible that the 28-year-old will not only miss the game against the Texans, but also the game against the L.A. Rams. The Ravens then have their bye week in Week 7.
If Jackson is sidelined as feared, backup Cooper Rush would temporarily take over the starting role.
