Patrick Mahomes suffered an injury in the game against the Cleveland Browns. It is still uncertain when the quarterback will play again.
Patrick Mahomes was injured in the fourth quarter of Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns (final score 21:7) when he was sandwiched by two defenders.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ starting quarterback was unable to continue in the game. As NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports, tests confirmed the suspected injury. Mahomes suffered a mild high-ankle sprain. The Chiefs will assess his condition on a weekly basis to determine if a return to the field is possible.

Head coach Andy Reid addressed the injury after the game. “It’s not broken, he just hurts,” the coach said. “His status will be re-evaluated week to week. He probably could have played again. He also wanted to play again. But that wasn’t necessary.” How long he will be out will be decided “from day to day”.
Mahomes leaves return against the Texans open
Mahomes also said that he would have gone back on the field if the game had been closer: “I wanted to get back out there and probably would have fought a little harder if it had been a one-score game.”
Will he play again in Week 16? “It’s hard to say right now,” Mahomes said. “The adrenaline is still pumping and you usually don’t get a good sense of it until the day after.”
The Chiefs play the Houston Texans next Saturday.
