It’s set: Due to the victories of the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chief in the Wild Card Round it comes to the hammer matchup in the Divisional Round on Sunday night. Josh Allen will face Patrick Mahomes. And the two star quarterbacks have a score or two to settle with each other.
Munich – Frank Clark sums it up.
“You ask about the two best young quarterbacks in the league, and 99 percent of the people in the world will say Pat Mahomes and Josh Allen,” the Chiefs defensive end said.
Which shows the explosive nature of the upcoming duel between the two superstars in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Sunday night. Then Allen and the Buffalo Bills will meet the Chiefs around superstar Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.
Bills seek revenge for 2020
In addition, it will be the rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game, which went to the Chiefs by a relatively clear 38:24 – so the Bills still have something to make up for.
The two offensive machines will meet for the fourth time in their careers. Mahomes has a narrow 2-1 lead so far.
The last time the two met in week five of the current season, the Bills won 38-20 in Kansas City. Josh Allen was on top form with 374 yards and four touchdowns.
Buffalo should also travel to Missouri with a broad chest, as they achieved a historic feat against the Patriots last weekend.
Never before had a team delivered a perfect offensive performance in an NFL game. In other words, Josh Allen’s offence did not have to send the kicker or punter down the field once in the 47-17 blowout of Bill Bellichick and Co. Every single drive ended in a touchdown for the Billls.
Kansas City Chiefs are back on track
A performance of this magnitude will certainly be needed again on Sunday, as the Chiefs are one of the hottest teams in the league after their stuttering start to the season. Head coach Andy Reid’s team has won ten of its last 11 games and swept “Big Ben” Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers from the stadium in the Wild Card Game.
Pat Mahomes played a big part in this, stabilising midway through the season and putting aside his initial difficulties. After he had ten interceptions in the first eight weeks alone, the 26-year-old found his way back to his old confidence in the second half of the season.
But the quarterback knows the strength of the opponent on Sunday: “We expect a very good football team that will play really strong. They have a great offence, defence and terrific special teams,” Mahomes said. “We know it’s going to be a real battle for us if we want to get back to the AFC Championship Game.”
It would be the third in a row for Mahomes.
