Jalen Ramsey has no future in Miami. Where will the star cornerback go?
After two seasons in Florida, the Miami Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey are on the verge of parting ways. The star defender is allowed to look for a new home.
As first reported by the “NFL Network”, both sides agree to find a suitable trade partner for the seven-time Pro Bowler in the near future. Meanwhile, the team has also confirmed that they are on the verge of a separation.
Dolphins GM on Ramsey separation
“We have decided that it would probably be in the best interest of all parties involved if we parted ways in the future,” Miami general manager Chris Grier told reporters.
It is not yet clear where the 30-year-old might go. The report by NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero does not mention any explicit trade candidates either.
There are also financial reasons behind the trade: Ramsey will receive a fully guaranteed salary of $25.1 million in Miami for the 2025 season and is thus expected to provide some breathing room in the franchise’s cap space.
The Dolphins and seven-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey are mutually set to explore trade options and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he played elsewhere in 2025, per me and @TomPelissero.

Jalen Ramsey is the highest-paid player on the Dolphins.
According to Spotrac, his cap hit of $16.66 million is the third-highest on the Dolphins, behind quarterback Tua Tagovailoa ($39.81 million) and superstar receiver Tyreek Hill ($27.1 million).
Ramsey has worn the Dolphins jersey since 2023, when the Rams traded him to Florida for a third-round pick.
