The NFL has its next monster contract: Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be cashing in big time in the future
Next monster contract in the NFL.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed a five-year contract extension with their quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
The new contract is worth USD 275 million, of which USD 142 million is guaranteed. A further 58 million will be guaranteed in the event of injury. At 55 million dollars a year, Lawrence is the highest earning player at this position together with Bengals playmaker Joe Burrow.
Rams playmaker Jared Goff had signed a contract worth 53 million per year in the offseason.
Lawrence had two years remaining on his contract after the Jaguars picked up the option for a fifth year last month. He had recently stated it would be “ideal” to finalize a new deal before the start of training camp – which is exactly what has now been accomplished.
The Jaguars selected the 24-year-old first overall in the 2021 draft. In three seasons as starting quarterback, he has a record of 20 wins and 30 losses. He was also in the Pro Bowl in 2022
