No wins this season, only one out of the last ten games, and that was against the Panthers: Are the Jaguars no longer following head coach Doug Pederson?
The team started this NFL season with four losses, which is why sporting problems cannot be dismissed.
What makes the situation even worse is that the Jags have only won one of their last ten games. And that was in Week 17 of last season against the weakest team in the league, the Carolina Panthers.
Which quickly raises the coaching question in this day and age. Or rather, the suspicion is expressed that the head coach could have lost the cabin.
Is that the case with Doug Pederson and the Jaguars?
“I would know. I talk to these guys every day. I see them every day. And no, I didn’t lose the cabin,” Pederson said. “I think these guys have done everything I’ve asked them to do. They keep playing and training hard and fighting. And it’s a good group – with the right leaders. They know what we have to do. They’re not looking for excuses. I’m not looking for excuses either. We just have to do it.”
Pederson pointed out that all teams go through such phases, and he does not see his job at risk. He believes that his team is better than its current record. At the same time, however, he also calls on the top performers to play at a consistently high level.
“Our top players have to play at the top level. Will they play at the top level every week? Probably not. That means that the good players also have to step up and play their best. If enough players play like that, we’ll be better off,” he said.
