NFL – Indianapolis Colts: Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon explains headphone style at games

Following the death of Jim Irsay, the Indianapolis Colts are now under the leadership of his daughter Carlie Irsay-Gordon, who could influence the viewing behavior of NFL team owners.

Carlie Irsay-Gordon succeeded the late Jim Irsay as owner of the Indianapolis Colts.

The daughter of the long-time owner has already attracted attention in the past with an interesting trait.

She always wears headphones at NFL games. This allows her to stay connected to the team’s calls and keep track of what is happening and being announced.

And perhaps more franchise owners should do the same, as she suggests.

Indianapolis Colts: Owner suggests more headphones

According to ESPN, Irsay-Gordon explained at a press conference during Colts training: “I want to be informed. That’s why I wear headphones. I want to know what’s going on. I want to know who’s making the mistake. I want to know: Is this person full of bulls**t or do they even know what they’re talking about?”

She went on to say: “A football team and how it operates is a complex organism. At first glance, you might think, ‘Oh, that person ran the wrong route.’ But with the information from the headphones, I know, ‘No, someone covered the wrong wide receiver and it wasn’t the person’s mistake at all, but the person who called it.”

Irsay-Gordon made a clear recommendation to the rest of the owners: “Anyone who pays millions and millions of dollars to coaches and general managers should consider this upgrade. It can help you make a potentially less expensive mistake.”

Photos have even surfaced showing Irsay-Gordon during a game with a so-called “call sheet” in her hand, which lists the team’s plays. She therefore takes her position very seriously and likes to be involved.

Most owners watch passively from their suites during games. Could this be a sign of change?
