NFL: Former quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suspended – did he give his players an unfair advantage?

Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was coaching Miami Northwestern until recently. However, he has now been suspended. He is alleged to have given his players an unfair advantage.

Teddy Bridgewater used to play quarterback in the NFL. He now works as a high school coach in Miami. But now there’s been a big blow. The 32-year-old has been suspended. Bridgewater confirmed this on Facebook.

Bridgewater is alleged to have given his players an unfair advantage. Nevertheless, he wants to stay with the Florida team.

“The suspension came from MNW, but it’s impossible to suspend someone who doesn’t work for you. So if I’m suspended by MNW, I can theoretically transfer to another school of my choice – but I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE,” he wrote.

Bridgewater: “Will help voluntarily”

He goes on to explain: “And when the going gets tough, I’ll just volunteer to help from the stands again – just like I did in 2018 and 2019 when no one minded.”

The suspension is likely due to a Facebook post by Bridgewater on July 7. In it, he revealed that he had paid for Uber rides, meals, and recreational services for his players. To finance this, he allegedly asked fans for donations.

In his latest post, he admits that he reported the payments to Miami himself. The Florida High School Athletic Association confirmed that further information is being gathered.

Miami was Bridgewater’s first coaching job after ten years as a player in the NFL for six franchises, most recently as a backup for the Detroit Lions in the 2024 season.
