Jon Gruden is back in the NFL environment after his NFL retirement due to sexist and homophobic statements – but in a different role.

It has been three years since Jon Gruden was head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders on the sidelines of an NFL game. He resigned after the New York Times leaked old e-mails in an explosive report that severely incriminated Gruden.

In addition to using racist language, the ex-coach made fun of drafting the first openly gay NFL player (Michael Sam) and made transphobic and homophobic comments.

Now Gruden has found his way back into the football business, in an unfamiliar role and with a new job. On Tuesday, sports outlet and pop culture company Barstool Sports officially announced that the 61-year-old had signed a multi-year contract with the group.

Barstool President and CEO Dave Portnoy confirmed the news, which was first reported by ESPN, with a video of Gruden explaining his famous “Spider Y 2 Banana” play to Barstool employees.

Gruden now active in the ELF

Gruden made his comeback to the football cosmos at the beginning of the year, albeit in Europe. The ex-Raiders and Buccaneers coach was hired by Italian champions Milano Seamen as a consultant for the ELF.

But despite Gruden’s expertise, the Milan team ultimately missed the ELF playoffs by finishing fourth in the Central Conference.
