With Head Coach Doug Pederson a new era is to begin for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his first press conference, the coach talks about how quarterback Trevor Lawrence impressed him and thus lured him to the Jaguars.
Munich – The start between these two key players has been successful in any case.
That new Jaguars coach Doug Pederson is a fan of ice cream is no secret in the NFL. So it was a good thing that quarterback Trevor Lawrence got his new coach a carton of ice cream for his introductory press conference.
The head coach had words of praise afterwards, but not only because of the cold delicacy. The head coach was happy that his new team has a franchise quarterback waiting for him. At least Pederson believes last year’s No. 1 pick is one, even if he has yet to prove it. But Lawrence had a big influence on Pederson wanting to go to the Jaguars.
Pederson praises Lawrence
“That’s something I’ve looked at, obviously, with the teams that are looking for a head coach. Who is the quarterback?” the 54-year-old explained to US journalists.
“Everything I’ve researched and heard about Trevor from people, even coaches who played against him last year, has been nothing but good.”
Of course, the Eagles’ Super Bowl coach is fully aware that the coming season will be anything but easy. So a rebuild is needed, but it won’t happen “overnight. “
More staff at the Jaguars
“We’re not just going to snap our fingers and start winning football games. Our goal is to win football games, but we’re going to do that player to player, coach to coach, person to person in the organization. And I’m going to challenge our team, and I’m going to challenge our fans. It’s about accountability. It’s about support. It’s about leadership. And that’s what I’m going to bring. That’s what I’m going to bring to the organisation. And I’m not going to settle for anything less than a team that’s playing for the championship.”
Owner Shad Khan has similarly high ambitions. He let it be known at Pederson’s introduction that he wants to hire even more people to take the franchise forward.
