NFL: Dolphins star is confident – Biggest weakness eradicated?

Season’s decent weaknesses. Dolphins tackle Terron Armstead says the team is already making progress – thanks in part to new coach Anthony Weave

Last season, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL in passing yards. Nevertheless, the Miami Dolphins only managed a record of eleven wins and six defeats in the regular season. The Wild Card Round was the final straw.

The biggest weakness of the team from Florida: the defense. The Dolphins conceded a total of 391 points – the eleventh-worst figure in the league. They are only ranked 22nd in the overall NFL ranking.

In Anthony Weave, the Dolphins brought in a new defensive coordinator in the offseason. He most recently spent three years as defensive line coach with the Baltimore Ravens. Weave has already made his first mark with the Dolphins.

As left tackle Terron Armstead put it on the “Up & Adams Show”: “When we brought Weave in from Baltimore, it was scary to see the defense in OTAs and minicamp.” Now he is impressed by the quality of the players – because Weave knows how to use and develop them properly. “I like where we are. We now have a great mix of youngsters and veterans,” added the 32-year-old.

Weave has already shown his skills with the Ravens. Together with defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald’s, he formed a defense that allowed the sixth-fewest yards last season. With the Miami Dolphins, he now succeeds Vic Fangio, who is now defensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles.
