In the preseason, the Denver Broncos made the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 season. If head coach Sean Payton has his way, that’s just the beginning.
The Denver Broncos qualified for the playoffs last season for the first time in ten years, ending a long dry spell in the NFL.
However, the team was defeated 7-31 by the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round. But this is only the beginning.
Head coach Sean Payton believes the Broncos can achieve even more in the 2025 season.
“I really like this team,” the 61-year-old was quoted as saying during training by Yahoo Sports. “The short-term goal is to win the division.”
It’s an ambitious goal to win the AFC West, where they will face the Kansas City Chiefs, among others. But they don’t intend to stop there.
Denver Broncos: Sean Payton believes team can win title
“This team is capable of winning the Super Bowl. I’ve coached six teams that I thought could win the Super Bowl. Some made it to the championship game, others made it to the playoffs. This is my seventh team that I believe that about,” Payton continued.
After an offseason in which the team signed players such as linebacker Dre Greenlaw, safety Talanoa Hufanga, tight end Evan Engram, and promising prospects cornerback Jahdae Barron and running back RJ Harvey in the draft, the Broncos coach is looking ahead with optimism.
Payton won the title with the New Orleans Saints in the 2009 season.
