NFL – Denver Broncos: Assistant Coach Michael Wilhoite arrested

Often, the talk is about players in the NFL who have committed crimes. On Sunday night, however, it was about an assistant coach for the Denver Broncos.

Denver Broncos linebacker coach Michael Wilhoite was required to appear in a Denver County court on Monday morning.

According to an “ESPN” report, the former San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks player was arrested and is now facing a serious assault charge. This information was taken from the jail records.

On Sunday, he had punched a police officer in the face after a verbal altercation at the airport. The reason for the altercation was that Wilhoite was not allowed to leave his car unattended in the “drop-off” zone.

After the police officer hit the ground and injured himself, he tasered the coach in the left hip area. Wilhoite was still able to flee in his car.

The police officer then documented severe pain on his chin and visible injuries to his knees.

“This is a routine procedure that is carried out thousands of times every day. The fact that something like this ends in violence is very concerning for the court,” the judge said in the courtroom on Monday morning.

One night in jail

Despite the escape, the 38-year-old was arrested and detained on Sunday. On Monday, a bail amount of $5,000 was set.

The Denver Broncos announced the following in a statement: “We are aware of the situation around Michael Wilhoite and are currently gathering more information.”

The assistant coach is in his second season with the Broncos. He previously coached linebackers in the same capacity for the LA Chargers. He began his coaching career with the New Orleans Saints as special teams assistant and defensive assistant.
