The US state of Texas has been hit by severe flooding. The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans are offering their support.
Flash flooding in central Texas has rocked the US. According to official reports, at least 79 people have died so far.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, the level of the Guadalupe River rose by eight meters within a short period of time, explained Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.

The severe flooding since Friday morning took many by surprise. The search for missing persons is in full swing.
To alleviate the suffering of the victims, the two Texas NFL teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans, as well as the league itself, are providing generous donations through their own foundations. A total of $1.5 million will be made available.
Flood disaster: Texans issue statement
The Texans shared a statement on social media: “The tragic news from our home state weighs heavily on our hearts. It is especially heartbreaking that many children are still missing. We pray that they will be reunited with their families soon.”

The Cowboys also reacted with dismay to the events. “The devastation and loss of life caused by the flooding in Kerr County and the Texas Hill Country weighs heavily on our hearts, especially for the young girls and their families, as well as for all those who lost their lives and their loved ones,” the franchise said in a statement.
Among other things, a girls’ summer camp was destroyed by the floodwaters. According to Sheriff Larry L. Leitha, more than 20 participants are still missing.
