NFL: Cleveland Browns sign wide receiver Isaiah Bond after allegations of sexual assault

Following serious allegations against him, Isaiah Bond was left without a team in the 2025 NFL Draft. But now the legal issues have been resolved, and the wide receiver is ready to get started.

After a delay of several months, Isaiah Bond is now set to begin his NFL career.

The wide receiver was arrested in April on allegations of sexual assault and released on bail shortly thereafter. Although he vehemently denied the allegations and even filed a defamation lawsuit, the accusations had serious consequences for Bond. He was not selected in the draft at the end of April.

However, a jury in Texas has now decided not to pursue the case further. The case has been closed and Bond no longer faces criminal charges. This has had a direct positive impact on his situation as a professional football player.

As the 21-year-old announced himself on Thursday, he has signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns.

Isaiah Bond reiterates his innocence

“First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Cleveland Browns for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to continue my career in the NFL,” Bond said.

The wide receiver continued: “Football has been my passion since I was six years old, and playing at this level is a blessing I will never take for granted.”

He also commented on the allegations against him. “I know there have been questions and reports regarding the recent allegations. I am grateful for the decision by the prosecutor and the courts not to press charges,“ Bond said.

He reiterated his innocence. ”On the advice of my attorney, I will not comment on the details of this case, but I want to make it clear that I have denied these allegations from the beginning and maintained my innocence. I stand by that today,” he clarified.

Bond fails with Combine announcement

Bond played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2022 and 2023 before transferring to the Texas Longhorns in 2024. Despite relatively low production, he was considered a candidate for day two of the draft prior to his legal problems due to his athletic abilities.

Ahead of this year’s NFL Combine, he caused a stir with his announcement that he wanted to break Xavier Worthy’s 40-yard dash record. Ultimately, however, he failed to achieve this goal by a wide margin.
