Recently, rumors have been swirling again that Myles Garrett could be traded. Now the GM of the Cleveland Browns has spoken out.
Do the Cleveland Browns want to get rid of their superstar Myles Garrett? Recently, there have been more and more rumors about a trade after the 30-year-old’s contract was adjusted.
Now General Manager Andrew Berry spoke out at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix. And he left no doubt that the Browns want to keep Garrett.
“If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have had to adjust his contract,” Berry said, according to ESPN. “That has nothing to do with it.”
Berry continued, “Myles has been a Brown for his entire career. He’s one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve made our position very clear in the past as well as currently. I understand the questions – but honestly, I don’t want to spend any more time on it.”
Garrett had signed a four-year, $160 million contract in 2025 after previously demanding a trade. He emphasized at the time that he was serious about playing for the Super Bowl.
That’s why the new contract came as a surprise, because the Browns weren’t even competitive enough to make the playoffs in 2025. Whether that will change in 2026 remains to be seen. One reason – in addition to the contract adjustment – that there are always rumors.
He proved just how important he is last season when he set a new record with 23 sacks. “Every game I’m impressed with what he can do and how special he is, but this year was definitely something special,” defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire praised the 30-year-old.
