NFL – Cleveland Browns: Head Coach Stefanski will call the plays

The Cleveland Browns’ decision on playcalling has been made.

The Cleveland Browns training camp is now in full swing. Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced key decisions as part of the pre-season preparations.

The question of who will call the Browns’ offensive plays in the coming NFL season was also clarified.

The options were Stefanski himself and offensive coordinator Ken Dorsay.

As Stefanski announced on Thursday evening, he himself will take over the playcalling for Cleveland in 2024/25.

“Let’s get it over with. I know you’re all interested,” Stefanski told reporters on site. “You can tell everybody I’m going to be calling the plays for the offense this upcoming season.”

But Stefanski emphasized that playcalling will not be a solo effort. “Every decision I make for our team, I take in a lot of information and try to listen to a lot of people to make that decision. “

Dorsay new Browns offensive coordinator

However, Stefanski calling Cleveland’s offensive plays is nothing new. Since the 42-year-old started with the Browns in 2020, he has taken over the playcalling around the quarterback.

This year, the decision was only open for longer as offensive coordinator Dorsay is new to the coaching staff. He most recently worked for the Buffalo Bills, not least as offensive coordinator.

“I think very highly of Coach Dorsey and the entire offensive staff. So we’ll be working closely together. It’s never been a one-man show,” Stefanski told reporters.

“Ken’s going to be a big help for me – not just on game day, but all week long,” Stefanski said. “He’s already having a big impact on our offense. The things we’re implementing, the things he’s putting together, the way he’s working with our offensive team. Those are things I don’t take lightly. “
