Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah suffered a neck injury during the last NFL season. This is still having an impact, and the linebacker will miss the upcoming season. The end of his career cannot be ruled out.
Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah of the Cleveland Browns will miss the upcoming 2025 NFL season. The Browns announced that the 25-year-old has been placed on the reserve/PUP list. This means his season is over prematurely.
Owusu-Koramoah suffered a neck injury in week eight of last season in a collision with Derrick Henry during a game against the Baltimore Ravens and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
He was taken to the hospital immediately for examination and later released. Fortunately, he did not suffer any lasting damage, but he was ruled out for the rest of the season. A return is still uncertain.
General manager Andrew Berry said Owusu-Koramoah is making progress. “Jeremiah has the full support of our team, and we expect him to continue to be a part of the organization, even though he will not return to the field this year,” Berry said.
Owusu-Koramoah was selected for the 2021 Pro Bowl
However, the team said it did not want to “make any predictions about Jeremiah’s football future,” which at least does not rule out the possibility that his career may already be over.
Owusu-Koramoah thanked fans for their patience and the Browns for their support in a statement on social media, as well as the “world-class doctors” who treated him during his rehabilitation.
“I won’t be playing this season, but I’m focused on what I can control — my healing, my attitude, and my faith. The body may rest, but the calling never sleeps,” he wrote.
Owusu-Koramoah was drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 2021 draft. He was selected for the Pro Bowl for the first time in his third year. Last year, he had already racked up three sacks before his injury.
