NFL – Cincinnati Bengals: This is how much Joe Burrow helped with the Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins deals

Is it good for a quarterback to verbally lean out of the window and make demands? It has apparently had an effect on the Cincinnati Bengals.

He made it clear to his Cincinnati Bengals that he expects them to extend the contracts of key players Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, as well as defensive machine Trey Hendrickson.

Hendrickson received trade approval, though a change of defensive end is not yet in the offing.

Chase and Higgins have got their big deals. And they’re staying with the Bengals, who are now going all in on the Super Bowl themselves.

Chase got a four-year contract worth $161 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL with an annual average of $40.25 million. Higgins received a four-year contract worth $115 million.

The two of them thanked Burrow, whose influence on the talks was clearly not insignificant.

“I think it was a great help,” said Chase. “He just passed on some information and gave us moral support. I think that’s the most important thing, especially when it comes from a quarterback.”

And Higgins added that Burrow’s comments “definitely helped.”
