NFL – Cincinnati Bengals: Defensive star ends holdout – returns to training despite contract negotiations

Defense star Trey Hendrickson ends his holdout and is back in training with the Cincinnati Bengals. A new contract is still being negotiated.

Finally! Good news for Cincinnati Bengals fans. At least some of it.

Trey Hendrickson ends his holdout. The defensive end returns to the NFL franchise’s training facility and is participating in camp.

However, contract negotiations with the pass rusher are still ongoing. Both sides are reportedly working to finalize a deal soon so that the transfer saga can come to an abrupt end.

Hendrickson explains his return with the intention of limiting “distractions” for the team. This is also a reference to the other issue surrounding rookie Shemar Stewart, which also appears to be coming to a close. An agreement has been reached with Stewart.

Hendrickson commits to the Cincinnati Bengals

“The goal has always been to stay in Cincinnati,” Hendrickson said. However, there is no new status in the negotiations. Both sides want to reach an agreement, but there is no rapprochement. The defensive end confirmed that things are “exactly the same” as they were at the beginning of his holdout.

He goes on to say: “Some things leaked to the public. But it was never the plan to not help the 2025 Bengals.“ By reporting, Hendrickson avoids a penalty of $50,000 that would have been due for each day of training missed.

”I want to help the guys. Demario Davis, Cam Jordan, and Sam Hubbard have helped me a lot over the last few weeks. The situation will work itself out somehow as we head into the new season.”

The biggest sticking point in the negotiations: guaranteed money. While Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt received guaranteed money over three years from their teams, the Bengals are only offering a guaranteed annual salary. That’s not enough for one of the best pass rushers of the past season.
