The victory in the Sunday Night Game of week 6 of the 2024 NFL season went to the Cincinnati Bengals. In the 17-7 win over the New York Giants, the defense was particularly convincing.
Thanks to a strong performance by their defense, led by Trey Hendrickson (two sacks, two tackles for loss), the Cincinnati Bengals have clinched their second victory of the current NFL season.
Quarterback Joe Burrow (208 passing yards, 55 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown) and Co. defeated the New York Giants 17-7 in week 6, keeping them in contention in the AFC North.
On the game’s very first drive, the star QB set the tone by running for 47 yards into the end zone, the longest touchdown run of his career. It was also the only points scored in the first half.
Daniel Jones (205 passing yards, 56 rushing yards, one interception) and his teammates failed to score despite five possessions. Four drives ended in a punt in the first half, and the starting quarterback also threw an interception in the red zone in the first quarter, which Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt snatched.
In the third quarter, New York again got off to a bad start with a turnover on downs, but then capitalized on a Zack Moss fumble. Jones led the Giants to the opposing end zone, Tyrone Tracy ran in over a yard – the equalizer.
NFL: Bengals defense strong – Giants kicker Joseph misses two field goals
Cincinnati, in which, as expected, Ja’Marr Chase (72 receiving yards) and Tee Higgins (77 receiving yards) played the biggest roles in the passing game, went back into the lead with a field goal. The Giants missed an opportunity to score one on the following drive.
With about two minutes left in the game, Chase Brown scored on a 30-yard touchdown run to make it 23-14. Jones led his offense back into field-goal range, but Greg Joseph missed again.
The Bengals (2-4) will face the struggling Cleveland Browns next week (on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the live ticker), while the Giants (2-4) will host the Philadelphia Eagles at the same time.
