NFL: Buffalo wins after snowstorm

Even the snowstorm couldn’t stop record-breaking quarterback Josh Allen: Thanks to their once again outstanding playmaker, the Buffalo Bills advanced to the NFL play-off quarter-finals – after a day’s delay due to the weather chaos in the US state of New York. The spectators in the stands still had to fight their way through the snow as Allen and Co. defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31:17 in the wild-card round on the painstakingly cleared pitch.

Quarterback Allen was once again the match winner with four touchdowns in temperatures of around minus eight degrees: his passes led to points three times and he also ran 52 yards into the end zone himself. The 27-year-old thus extended his NFL record: For the twelfth time this season, he recorded at least one touchdown through the air and on the ground. The game was postponed by one day due to the snowstorm. In the next round, the star quarterbacks will face off against Patrick Mahomes and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. “It’s going to take a strong team effort,” Allen said.

Last year’s finalists Philadelphia Eagles, on the other hand, have already been eliminated. The runners-up lost 9:32 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, continuing their slump after a strong start to the season. After a promising start with ten wins in the first eleven games, the Eagles collapsed: their sixth defeat in the last seven games sealed their early exit.
