NFL – Buffalo Bills: James Cook continues to sit out practice and talks about “business”

Bills star James Cook is once again sitting out his franchise’s practice and talks about a “business” decision.

It’s no secret that Bills star James Cook wants a new contract. The running back has already made his wishes clear and did not participate in the NFL team’s voluntary offseason workouts.

However, Cook was present at the Bills’ minicamp and also participated in the first eight sessions of training camp.

But that’s now over. The 25-year-old did not take part in the team’s training on Sunday, instead watching from the sidelines in normal clothes. When asked about it, he told ESPN: “Oh, nothing. Business.”

Cook also responded with the word “business” when asked if he planned to practice on Monday. The result should have come as no surprise to anyone. ESPN reporter Alaina Getzenberg posted a picture showing the running back on the training grounds, but not in football gear.

According to the report, the Bills had already declined to comment on the matter the day before. However, Cook did not appear on the list of injured players, making it clear that, in the absence of a new contract, he has now entered a holdout.

James Cook wants top contract with the Bills

According to NFL Media, both sides have already entered into talks and are “not that far apart.”

Cook wants to be paid like one of the league’s top running backs after earning $4.257 million in the first three seasons of his NFL career. In the upcoming season, the final year of his rookie deal, he is set to receive a base salary of $5.271 million.

At the start of the offseason, he hinted on social media that he wanted around $15 million per season. The NFL’s top earners at this position include Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million), Christian McCaffrey ($19 million), and Derrick Henry ($15 million).
