Serious allegations against Maxwell Hairston: The Bills’ first-round pick has reportedly been charged with sexual assault.
Buffalo Bills first-round pick Maxwell Hairston is facing a civil lawsuit for sexual assault, according to ESPN.
A woman is accusing the 21-year-old cornerback of sexually assaulting her in 2021 at the University of Kentucky.
According to the documents, the then college player allegedly “forcibly undressed and sexually assaulted” the woman in March 2021 after she repeatedly made it clear that she did not want sexual contact.
The alleged victim reported the incident to the police on the same day, according to her own statements, and also underwent a medical examination. However, according to ESPN, the local police said that no report of a complaint against Hairston had been filed.
The University of Kentucky did not comment on the specific case, but emphasized that such allegations are always thoroughly investigated both internally and externally. Hairston himself has not yet responded to media inquiries.
The Buffalo Bills referred to earlier statements by General Manager Brandon Beane, who had already emphasized during the draft in April that the case had been thoroughly investigated. Hairston was “an impeccable young man” and there had been no incriminating evidence.
NFL could take action
As the case is a civil proceeding, it could end up in court. A response from the NFL cannot be ruled out, as was recently the case with former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.
Hairston played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats from 2022 to 2024. In 2025, the cornerback was selected by the Buffalo Bills with the 30th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
