The Baltimore Ravens face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the opening game of the playoffs. Before that, Lamar Jackson is causing a stir with a bold announcement.
Lamar Jackson is thinking about the future even before the NFL playoffs start. An extremely successful one.
“If we win the Super Bowl, I’m taking number 1,” the Baltimore Ravens playmaker announced on ‘The Lounge Podcast’ that he would change his jersey number if the team wins.
But that’s just the beginning. “I want to retire the number 8 and the number 1. I want to win a Super Bowl with the number 8 and then come back and do the same with the number 1,” said Jackson.
The Ravens will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round on Saturday night. The Ravens are among the favorites to win the Super Bowl, and Jackson is also considered a hot candidate for MVP.
But quite a few fans pointed out the difference between the regular-season Jackson and the playoff Jackson.
While the 28-year-old led the Ravens into the playoffs for the fifth time, he has only won one game in the postseason so far. Last year, the Ravens lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the championship game.
“You’ve got to win more than one playoff game in a season, Lamar. Small steps,” wrote a user on X.
