After their latest defeat, the Kansas City Chiefs are now more than ever fearing for their playoff chances in the NFL.
The team led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes lost 10-20 to the Houston Texans and now has a 6-7 record after 13 games. For the first time since 2015, the Chiefs will not win their division. In the AFC West, Kansas City is currently only in third place behind the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers, both of whom the dominant team of recent years still has to face in the remaining four games. Another division title is already out of reach: Denver improved its record to 11-2 thanks to its tenth consecutive victory, 24-17 at the Las Vegas Raiders. “Ten wins in a row is a long streak,” said Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, who once again impressed against the Raiders with 212 passing yards and a rushing touchdown: “You have to appreciate this opportunity and be grateful for the wins, no matter how they come. But at the same time, we always try to improve.”
The Chiefs must try to do the same. Their current record is their worst after 13 games since 2012. Mahomes also failed to find his form against the Texans, with the star player failing to score a touchdown and throwing three interceptions. Kansas City’s next opponent this coming weekend is the Chargers. Meanwhile, there has been a change of leadership in the NFC North. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 28-21 in a head-to-head matchup and moved past their rivals. For the Bears, it was their first loss after five consecutive wins.
