NFL: Allegations against Deshaun Watson – lawyer reacts

Deshaun Watson is once again facing serious allegations. The Cleveland Browns quarterback is accused of raping a woman. Now his lawyer has spoken out.

Deshaun Watson is once again making negative headlines. In a lawsuit filed on Monday, a woman accused the Cleveland Browns quarterback of raping her.

According to the statement, the woman, who goes by the alias “Jane Doe” in the indictment, had a date with the then Houston Texans player in October 2020 in her private apartment. The sexual assault is alleged to have taken place there.

Watson’s lawyer has now spoken out. “Deshaun denies any allegations made in the indictment. We have agreed that he will not comment on this in public and assume that he will be vindicated,” said Rusty Hardin.

Claim against Watson: The background

Watson allegedly showed up to the date with “Jane Doe” in October 2020 in an aggressive mood because he had not found Doe’s apartment. Over the course of the evening, he allegedly coerced her into massaging his bottom first. When Doe denied this, he is said to have raped her.

The alleged victim is said to have struggled to free herself and drive Watson out of the apartment.

For Watson, it is the next major incident off the field; more than 20 lawsuits were already filed against him in 2021. At the time, numerous women who worked as masseuses for Watson had accused him of sexual harassment.

Following his transfer from the Texans to the Browns in March 2022, Watson was suspended for eleven games due to the allegations. He also had to pay a fine and undergo behavioral therapy. He had previously reached an out-of-court agreement with the majority of the plaintiffs to settle the lawsuits.

If the latest allegations against Watson are substantiated, he could possibly face renewed trouble with the NFL in addition to criminal prosecution. His contract with the Browns runs up to and including the 2026 season and earns him a fully guaranteed 230 million dollars.
