The Cowboys almost brought not only Quinnen Williams but also his brother Quincy Williams from New York to Dallas. However, another trade prevented this from happening.
Shortly before the trade deadline, the Dallas Cowboys apparently planned to bring not only star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets to Dallas, but also his brother Quincy Williams.
According to ESPN reporter Dan Graziano, the Cowboys had been negotiating with the Jets for a possible deal that would have brought both Quinnen and his brother, linebacker Quincy Williams, to Dallas.
However, this transfer did not materialize because the Cowboys opted for former Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson.
The Cowboys had to dig deep into their pockets for Quinnen Williams, sending a second-round pick in the 2026 draft, a first-round pick in 2027, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith to the Jets.
For Logan Wilson, on the other hand, a seventh-round pick in 2026 was enough for Cincinnati. If Quincy Williams had also been part of the deal, Dallas would probably have had to pay a significantly higher price.
New York Jets: Quincy Williams is one of the best Jets defenders
Even though Quincy Williams doesn’t have as many accolades as his three-time Pro Bowl brother, he is still one of his team’s top performers. In the 2023 season, he was selected to the All-Pro First Team after setting personal bests with 139 tackles and ten passes defended.
Despite a shoulder injury that cost him four games this season, he remains one of the strongest players on a Jets defense that has struggled to find consistency so far.
Despite his strong performances, it is unclear what the future holds for Quincy Williams in New York, as his contract expires after this season.
Many expected the Jets to trade him before the deadline to avoid the risk of losing him on a free agent. Instead, they surprised everyone by trading his brother.
