Aaron Rodgers wants to think about his future in the offseason. Unless something comes up.
Aaron Rodgers’ future in the NFL is still up in the air.
Whether and how the star quarterback will continue with the New York Jets is not to be decided for a few weeks or months.
According to a report by “The Athletic”, Rodgers will think about his future in the offseason.
He will take the time to consider a decision “unless I’m released immediately”.
But Rodgers emphasized: Even if he were to be released by the Jets, he would still consider his future in the NFL.
Rodgers also said that quarterback colleague Kirk Cousins, who was benched by the Falcons on Wednesday, will be better next year in his opinion, as his Achilles tendon injury will have been longer.
When asked if he’ll be better next year for the same reason, Rodgers replied, “It’s possible. But maybe I’ll end up on a beach.”
Because as early as November, he said, “I don’t even know if I want to keep playing yet. But New York would be my first option.”
Jets are 4-10 with Rodgers
After returning from a torn Achilles tendon that sidelined him for most of the 2023 season, Rodgers has led the Jets to a 2-1 start in 2024. But the positive momentum quickly dissipated as the team continued its ongoing struggles.
With a current record of 4-10, New York will be looking for a new general manager, a new head coach and possibly a new quarterback in the upcoming offseason.
Rodgers is in his 20th NFL season with a touchdown-interception rate of 23-8. His average passer rating is 90.8.
