Will the quarterback stick around for another season or not? NFL fans continue to wait for Aaron Rodgers’ decision. He has now commented on the matter.
Fans are waiting for a decision on Aaron Rodgers’ future. The quarterback could play his 18th season in the National Football League with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On Thursday, the 41-year-old spoke publicly for the first time about the rumors surrounding him.
On the “Pat McAfee Show,” he talked about the talks with the Jets, his personal situation, and what he’s been up to during the offseason.
He began by emphasizing that he has a very close circle of people around him, from whom little information leaks out. He underscored this by saying, “A lot of people say I’m looking for attention. But I haven’t spoken publicly to anyone in three months.”
Many of the rumors are “completely fabricated, and people who claim to be close to me are not. There was a lot of nonsense,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers and the Steelers: Will they find common ground?
Regarding the rumors of a possible move to the Steelers, Rodgers said he is in contact with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. There, he would meet newly signed wide receiver DK Metcalf.
He also met with him and trained with him to get to know him better. Rodgers was also in Pittsburgh to check out the training facilities.
However, he has not yet made a decision, and it will not be related to the outcome of the draft. The timing depends on his personal life and how it develops.
Rodgers: “If you have to make a move, make it.”
“If you have to make a move, make it. I’m not holding anyone back. My personal life is just a priority right now,” he elaborated, “I’ve said that from the beginning.”
Rodgers continued: “There is no deadline.” When he commits to a team, it is “an all-in commitment” that he is not ready to give at this point in time.
He currently has a few things to take care of and get through, which he did not elaborate on. These are “sensitive” issues that are no one’s business and “will remain within my close circle.”
Rodgers simply left sitting by the Jets
The quarterback continued: “I talked to the coach, and he just left the office. When he came back with the general manager, they told me they wanted to restructure.”
He has also talked to teams other than the Steelers and Jets, including the Giants, Saints, and Vikings.
The four-time MVP emphasized that money would not be a deal breaker. He doesn’t need $30 to $40 million, but would also “play for $10 million if everything fits.”
A possible end to his career is also still on the table: “I’m open to anything, but not committed to anything. Retiring is a possibility. But for now, my focus remains on my personal life.”
Among other notes from Aaron Rodgers on @PatMcAfeeShow:
– He never wanted $30M-$40M. Told teams he’d play for $10M.
– He’s not waiting for the Vikings to change their minds. https://t.co/GfTbB1ZQ20— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) April 17, 2025
During the current offseason, Rodgers will continue to train individually and announce himself when there is something to announce.
