New York Jets: Zach Wilson’s mom happy about Aaron Rodgers trade.

Aaron Rodgers is with the New York Jets for good. One person in particular seems to be happy about it: the mother of Zach Wilson. But why?

“I’m going to make that guy’s life hell every day in practice,” New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson said earlier this year about new competition. Now it’s clear: after the trade from the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers is that “guy.”

So whether it will actually come to pass that the young playmaker will give the veteran star hell remains to be seen. One person in particular seems to be happy about the new addition: Zach Wilson’s mother.

Wilson’s mom celebrates Rodgers trade

After the long-awaited trade was officially announced, Lisa Wilson commented on the big news in two Instagram stories. The first of which was a photo of her son along with Rodgers at a joint Jets and Packers practice in 2021.

The second story consisted of a screenshot of NFL insider Adam Schefter’s report announcing the trade on Twitter. Mama Wilson posted three clapping emojis to go with it.

Wilson is Rodgers’ backup

Why would Wilson’s mom be excited about such strong competition for her son, though? The reasons aren’t so far-fetched.

For one thing, Wilson had lost his spot as a starter to Mike White last season anyway. But now that White is suiting up for the Miami Dolphins, Wilson will be the backup behind Rodgers.

Will Wilson get service minutes?

At this position, the 23-year-old can be built up gently and learn from one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

Plus, Wilson will likely get his chance now and then next season when the 39-year-old Rodgers needs his breaks. Mama Wilson will definitely be looking forward to that, too.
