New York Jets: To Mike Williams – fan sends sandwich to team quarters

In order to convince free agent Mike Williams to sign a contract, a New York Jets fan has come up with a curious approach – with a sandwich for the wide receiver.

After being released by the Los Angeles Chargers, wide receiver Mike Williams has landed with the New York Jets.

Did a sandwich also play a role?

When it became clear that the 29-year-old would be visiting the franchise led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, one fan came up with a curious plan.

He sent a sandwich to Florham Park on the exact day of Williams’ visit in order to convince him to sign a contract.

The fan spent 21.32 US dollars on the football star’s breakfast in the hope that it would increase Williams’ chances of signing with the Jets.

“If my gesture increases the likelihood of him signing by 0.1 percent, then I’ll do it every time,” the generous fan is quoted as saying in the New York Post.

This curious idea probably also made the Jets smile a little, as they actually posted the sandwich delivered for Williams on social media

Even the delivery man who brought the sandwich to the Jets’ training ground was given very specific instructions by the glowing trailer.

“Please give it to the person at the door and tell him it’s for Mike Williams and tell him it’s more fun to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers than Bryce Young,” read the message from the fan, who posts on Twitter under the nickname “NYJ Matt.”

Williams must have reacted very positively to this curious breakfast delivery, he promptly signed with the “Gang Green” for one year.

And of course the Jets didn’t miss this opportunity and promptly presented Williams as a new team member while eating the sandwich.
