New York Jets – Aaron Rodgers on possible last game: “Just grateful”

Aaron Rodgers could play his last NFL game on Sunday. He opened the door to a possible retirement himself.

240 NFL games is what quarterback Aaron Rodgers has accumulated in his NFL career so far. Number 241, which takes place on Sunday in Week 18 against the Miami Dolphins, could be his last.

The 41-year-old himself brought up this possibility. “Of course it’s a possibility,” Rodgers said when asked about a potential retirement.

He then became quite nostalgic. “I’m just grateful for the last 20 years,” he enthused. Rodgers was drafted in the first round by the Green Bay Packers in 2005.

“There are going to be changes here,” Rodgers alluded to the situation of the New York Jets, who are currently without a head coach and general manager. ”And if I’m not part of the changes, I want to make sure everyone here knows how grateful I am for the time.”

Rodgers’ first season in New York ended with a torn Achilles tendon after just four snaps. This season, he fell short of expectations. A passer rating of 89.1 is the lowest of his career, and he has only had more than ten interceptions three times in his career.

Aaron Rodgers: Decision in March

Whether and, if so, how the playmaker will continue will not be decided in the near future. In March, Rodgers announced a decision about his career. “But this time I don’t need to retreat to a dark room,” he joked.

Until then, the Jets also want to clarify the positions of general manager and head coach. Free agency begins at the beginning of March, and the draft is at the end of April.

In his long career, Rodgers has completed 62,678 passing yards (eighth in NFL history), 499 touchdowns (fifth) and a career quarterback rating of 102.6. He also holds the NFL record for passer rating in a season (122.5), which could still be broken by Lamar Jackson.
