Aaron Rodgers is undergoing a lightning rehab after his serious injury. The next few days are crucial when it comes to his comeback.
Will he play again in the 2023 season? Or will he not play again? Again and again, this question has been asked about Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in recent weeks. The answer to that question is not far off.
The franchise from the Big Apple has until Wednesday to get A-Rod off the Injured Reserve list. If he is not activated by then, he will no longer be able to play in the 2023 season.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, it’s “likely that Rodgers will be medically cleared to play next week. “
Some of the franchise’s decision-makers would prefer to keep Rodgers out of the line of fire until next season out of an abundance of caution. However, no one wants to slow down the hard work the 40-year-old has put in during his exceptionally quick rehab. So the quarterback’s desire to play again will be respected.
Jets game against the Dolphins decisive
The Jets’ game against the Dolphins on Sunday could and should play an important role. For example, the team could already be out of the playoff race if they lose to the Dolphins and either the Cleveland Browns win against the Chicago Bears, the Houston Texans win against the Tennessee Titans or the Buffalo Bills win against the Dallas Cowboys.
In this case, Rodgers is extremely unlikely to be activated.
However, if the Jets were to win and finish with a 6-8 record, a 9-8 record would be possible with three wins under Rodgers as starting quarterback.
Rodgers with extremely fast rehab
The playmaker ruptured his Achilles tendon on only the fourth play of the first game of the season and subsequently underwent a lightning rehab that was unprecedented for such a serious injury.
Rodgers trained hard last week and left an “unbelievable” impression on his head coach Robert Saleh: “Everything looks normal to me.”
If this is the case and Rodgers is called up to the squad again, this does not necessarily mean that he will play against the Washington Commanders next Sunday. According to the NFL Network, talks will take place on Monday and Tuesday to reach a final decision. So it remains exciting
