It’s set to be the next, expensive sports palace in the NFL: The Tennessee Titans are planning a new stadium for 2027 – now they’ve secured a huge amount of public aid.
The Tennessee Titans have taken the next big step on the road to their new stadium – and what a step it is.
The franchise has secured the largest public investment ever made for a football arena.
The Metro Nashville City Council voted 26-12 to allow the sports authority to issue $760 million in bonds. Combined with $500 million in state bonds, that adds up to more than $1.2 billion in public financing.
2.1 billion for new Titans stadium
With the pledge, the Titans significantly surpass the $850 million New York is committing to the Buffalo Bills’ new $1.5 billion stadium.
The total cost of the Tennessee stadium is estimated at $2.1 billion, to be completed in 2027.
The Titans, with the help of the NFL and personal seat licenses, will raise the remaining $840 million. The new stadium will have a translucent roof and hold about 60,000 spectators.
