According to media information, a decision on a new head coach for the Denver Broncos could be made as early as today, Wednesday. There are many candidates.
The Denver Broncos are currently one of five NFL teams looking for a new head coach.
However, the search is unlikely to drag on much longer for the Colorado franchise. According to information from NBC, the Broncos could make a decision as early as this Wednesday (25 January 2023).
However, it is still unclear who the choice will be. In the past days and weeks, many names have been circulating in the Mile High City.
One name that keeps coming up is that of Dan Quinn. The current defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys was already in the conversation with the Broncos last season – and now he apparently is again.
Is Shaw moving from college to the NFL?
Another candidate is David Shaw, who was head coach of Stanford’s college team until November 2022. Although he had stated after his resignation that he would now take a break. But a job offer from the Broncos could perhaps make him change his mind.
Sean Payton, head coach of the New Orleans Saints until 2021, is also said to be thinking of returning. Although his contract with the Saints runs until 2024, he has been allowed to hold talks with other teams since 17 January.
The 59-year-old, however, is also on the books of a number of other teams and would not come cheap on top of that. The Saints are expected to want at least a first-round pick for him.
Rosburg probably another candidate
That leaves Jerry Rosburg. The coach who took over the Broncos job on an interim basis after Nathaniel Hackett was fired could also keep him on. This was most recently reported by Jeremy Fowler of “ESPN”.
Last but not least, “NBC” throws DeMeco Ryans into the ring. The defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers is said to have convinced the Broncos. However, he could only be signed once the season is over for the Niners.
With the Niners still in the Championship Games, there’s no way the Broncos could announce Ryans as their new head coach today.
