Miami’s star receiver Tyreek Hill uses the stats from the video game “Madden NFL” in his game preparation to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of opponents based on the simulation.
Tyreek Hill leaves no stone unturned when it comes to screening his opponents.
Speaking to reporters in attendance, the Miami Dolphins star receiver explained that he looks at his opponents’ ratings and abilities on the video game “Madden NFL” before games.
“I feel like Madden is a good way to see how good the players are,” the 29-year-old said of the cult video game: “I just play Madden the night before and look at all the ratings.”
Hill also provided a concrete example, “For example, let’s say it’s against Steven Nelson and Derek Stingley Jr, two phenomenal players by the way. I just go to Madden, pull up the EA roster and then scroll down to see what their comprehension, speed and strength are like. That way I get a good impression of them. “
Tyreek Hill targets record-breaking season
An unorthodox but apparently successful approach.
Hill himself is one of the best players in Madden NFL 2024 with an overall rating of 98 (second best of any receiver in the NFL) and a game-best 99 in the speed category.
After being traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to Miami in the previous year’s offseason, the No. 1 receiver to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa 2022 put up 1,710 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 119 receptions.
The receiver’s strong numbers in his debut season at Florida are all the more impressive considering that passer Tagovailoa missed several games due to multiple concussions.
Accordingly, Hill set a goal for the upcoming season to become the first receiver in NFL history to break the 2,000-receiving yards mark in the regular season.
