In the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has to be taken to hospital with a head and neck injury. Meanwhile, there is a slight all-clear.
Munich – Nobody wants to see scenes like that.
In the Thursday Night Game of the 4th NFL game day Miami Dolphins playmaker Tua Tagovailoa injured himself. He had to be taken away.
Midway through the second quarter, the 24-year-old was sacked by Cincinnati Bengals tackle Josh Tupou and hit the back of his head on the ground. As a result, his arms and hands cramped in an unnatural position.
Tua had to be treated for around ten minutes before he could be taken off the field on a stretcher. The playmaker’s head was fixed in the process – he was taken to hospital with a suspected head and neck injury.
Slight all-clear for Tagovailoa
In the meantime, however, there is at least a slight all-clear. Tagovailoa flew back to Miami with the team wearing a neck brace, NFL insider Josina Anderson wrote on Twitter: “According to information from the league, all (initial) examinations were negative, nothing is broken. When he is back he will have an MRI check.”
Players and fans were shocked at the images, with Miami teammates rallying around the injured athlete in support.
“All his teammates and I were very concerned. It was clear to me from the beginning that he had a concussion. He asked for me, and when I saw him, I could just tell he wasn’t the same guy I’m used to seeing,” said Head Coach Mike McDaniel.
Tagovailoa conscious
Shortly after halftime, the Dolphins announced that the playmaker was conscious and able to move all extremities at the hospital.

The 24-year-old’s injury caused quite a stir on social media.

Arizona Cardinals pro J.J. Watt, meanwhile, had just one request for the broadcasting US station: “Stop showing the replays. Please.”

Countless fans also expressed their sympathy, but also showed anger. The reason: Tagovailoa already suffered an injury last week. In the game against the Buffalo Bills, the quarterback had landed hard on the back of his head after a collision and staggered across the field.
He was immediately transferred to Concussion Protocol with a suspected concussion, but the doctors surprisingly let him continue playing.
